Person Specification - Finance Director

Essential:

Skills/Experience:-

  • Proven experience of the preparation of timely and accurate external returns, monthly management accounts, budgets, long term financial plans and forecasts reporting to the Board and Committees.
  • Significant experience of responsibility for budgets, including experience of SORP accounting guidelines, end of year accounts and external liaison with auditors and lenders.
  • Experience of successfully preparing, developing, and analysing cost data and related accounting information.
  • Advanced spreadsheet and IT systems skills.
  • Experience of working with and supporting Boards and Committees.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, in writing and over the telephone with individuals and with a wide variety of organisation’s and audiences and to research, analyse, and interpret complex information and produce clear verbal and written reports.
  • Ability to lead and manage staff, with proven conflict management skills and development of individuals.
  • Experience of effectively running pensions and payroll systems including HMRC submissions.
  • Experience of VAT accounting.
  • Experience of producing monthly cashflows.
  • Ability to develop, monitor and maintain management information systems and procedures.

Desirable:

Skills/Experience:-

  • Experience in a senior capacity of working for a housing association/s and housing finance regulation and processes.

Essential qualifications:

  • A relevant degree and/or appropriate professional financial qualification/s.
  • Qualified accountant

Desirable qualifications:

  • Evidence of commitment to personal development
  • Part or full ICSA qualification
