About First Garden Cities Homes

First Garden Cities Homes (FGCH) is a new housing association formed from an amalgamation of Welwyn Garden City Housing Association (WGCHA) and Howard Cottage Housing Association (HCHA). As the name suggests, there are strong ties with the first two Garden Cities of Letchworth Garden City and Welwyn Garden City. Operating within and around this geographical area the origins of the organisation go back to the early days of the Garden City movement. The organisation therefore aligns itself with the broad aims of the original garden city concepts of affordable homes for those in housing need and the welfare associated with healthy environments and decent housing.

First Garden Cities Homes owns or manages over 2000 properties predominantly along a 30 mile stretch of an A1 north-south corridor from Hatfield in the south through to Sandy at the northernmost point. The major densities of homes are Sandy, Biggleswade, Stotfold, and not surprisingly in the first Garden Cities; Letchworth GC and Welwyn GC which are also where we have our two office locations.

Whilst we love our heritage, we also embrace change and continually seek to offer new services and products to current and future generations of residents within and outside the Garden Cities. We're a not for profit organisation, which means that we invest our surpluses in better homes and services and drive value from our property portfolio so we can continue to build quality homes that will last another hundred years.

We're now looking to build our leadership capacity and bring in additional talent to work alongside a multi-talented and committed Board, Executive and Leadership team. We are also keen to broaden the diversity of our Leadership Team to cultivate a broad range of attributes and perspectives that reflect real world demographics and help us understand and connect more effectively with our customers.

If you think you have the skills that we require and would like to know more, we would love to hear from you.
